Get more connected with the Asian elephants and Karen culture by spending a night in the jungle. Learn how to be a Karen mahout on the first day and enjoy the nightlife in the jungle around a campfire.

As we will be staying in the jungle, don’t expect too much comfort, the housing will be open and the jungle is never silent. But enjoy the opportunity to wake up to a beautiful sunset will staying cosy in bed.

On the second day, spend more time with the elephant and learn more about treatment of disease, recognizing emotions and general bonding. At the end of the day, have a relaxing bath at the Hot Spring.

If you require an adapted lunch (vegetarian, vegan of certain allergies), please inform your tour guide in advance.

What to bring:
As we are staying in the jungle, don’t forget a mosquito repellent and sunscreen. Bring along some change of clothes, a towel and swimming outfit (for the Hot Spring). Don’t forget to bring your personal medicine.
Mattress, blankets, pillows and mosquito nets will be provided to give you a comfortable sleep at night.

Day 1:

Foreseen hour Activity
7:30am – 8:00am Pick up off all visitors at their accommodation in Chiang Rai city and surroundings
Arrival at the EPT park, time to adjust and discover the park freely
Introduction to the park and its mission, brief information on the elephant, its history in Thailand and the link with the Karen tribe
Spend time together with the elephants through the Karen way:
Feed the elephants and learn more about eating and drinking habits of the elephant
Learn about medical herbs and how to apply to elephant and human
Wander through the park together with the elephants
Take a look around in the local Karen museum and get more information by the tour guide. Visit as well the souvenir shop and behold the weaving techniques to make the typical Karen clothes
Enjoy a Karen lunch and take a rest. Free time to take a look around, visit the souvenir shop or get in touch with the staff
Bathing the elephants
Feed the elephants
Return the elephants back to their resting place in the jungle
18:00pm Enjoy dinner and start the night in the jungle

Day 2:

7:30am Have breakfast
Pick up the elephants at the jungle
Spend time together with the elephants:
Take a bath with the elephants
Gather food for the elephants in the jungle
Feeding of the elephants
Have lunch and take your time for some rest
Planting crops for the elephants (sugarcane, grass, bamboo,…)
Participate in the Karen rite of ‘Dmhaw’ to show respect to the elephants
Say goodbye to your favourite elephant
Visit the Hot Spring for a mineral bath
17:00pm Drop off of all visitors at their accommodation in Chiang Rai city and surroundings

Included in the price: food, water, transportation, food for the elephants, sleeping accommodation, Hot Spring, insurance and an English speaking guide.
